With a population approaching 700,000 people, the lively city of Glasgow is one of Scotland's biggest cities and stands to the west of Edinburgh. Although Glasgow is not home to an obvious central district, much of the public transport in Glasgow is centred around Argyle Street and nearby George Square.

Glasgow Orientation: Layout and Directions

The main financial and business districts can be found on the western side of Glasgow, while Merchant City stands on the city's eastern side. Located between these two regions is an area which stretches from Charing Cross to Glasgow Green.

Glasgow's West End district is also worthy of a mention and features a number of tree-lined avenues and a good supply of cafés, shops and affordable accommodation.
